The Chenap Valley Trek is a scenic trekking route located in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains, lush green valleys, and serene landscapes. The trek usually starts from the picturesque village of Barot and takes you through remote villages, dense forests, and alpine meadows. It’s a moderately challenging trek, suitable for both beginners and experienced trekkers. The best time to undertake this trek is typically from May to October when the weather is pleasant. Make sure to be well-prepared with proper gear and a local guide for a safe and memorable trekking experience

Chenap Valley Trek (Detailed Itinerary)

Day 01 Delhi – Haridwar – Rishikesh (230km/6hrs approx)

In the morning catch AC train for Haridwar at 06:50 hrs. Arrival at Haridwar by 11:25 hrs, here meet our guide and drive to Rishikesh. On arrival, check in to the hotel. If interested, one can go for witnessing the Ganga Aarti ceremony at the Ghat. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 02
Rishikesh – Joshimath (240km/ 8-9hrs)
Post breakfast, we will drive to Joshimath via Devprayag. En-route, we shall witness the confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda River at Dev Prayag. By evening, we will be able to reach at Joshimath. Check in to a hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 03
Joshimath – Vishnu Prayag (10 kms by road) – Thaing Village (8 kms trek)
Today, we will drive to Vishnu Prayag, from here we will be trekking to Thaing Village. In order to enter the valley, we will cross the bridge at Vishnuprayag. Overnight stay in the camp.

Day 04
Thaing Village – Dhar Kharak (6 kms trek)
Today, we shall start trekking early in the morning. Our trek will be to Dhar Kharak or Baidwa Kharak. Packed lunch will be taken to serve you on the way. The trek will pass through dense forests and along the course of several streams. We shall set our camp at Dhar Kharak for an overnight stay.

Day 05
Dhar Kharak – Chenap Meadow (4 kms)
Post breakfast, we shall trek to Chenap Valley. There are around 500 species of flowers and numerous medicinal plants found here. From Chenap, one can head to Badrinath via Neelkanth Base Camp. Overnight stay in the camp.

Day 06
Chenap Valley
The day is free for exploration. Overnight stay in the tent.

Optional: One can Trek towards Sona Shikhar which is 8 kms via Fulna and Maskyani Bugyal. In Sona Shikhar one can see the Braham Kamal and Fan Kamal.

Day 07
Chenap Valley – Thaing Village
Post breakfast, we shall trek back to Thaing Village. Overnight stay in a camp.

Day 08
Thaing Village – Vishnu Prayag – Srinagar (160km/5-6 hours)
Early in the morning, post breakfast, we shall trek down to Vishnu Prayag and from there will drive to Srinagar via Joshimath, Chamoli and Rudraprayag. Once you reach Srinagar, check- in to a hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 09
Srinagar – Haridwar – Delhi
After the breakfast, we will drive to Delhi via Haridwar. By the evening reach Delhi. Tour and Services end

Accommodation: 2 Nights in a Hotel / Homestay in Joshimath on a triple-sharing basis. 3 Nights Tented Accommodation on a triple sharing basis.

Transportation: Surface transfer from Rishikesh – Joshimath – Rishikesh by Sumo / Bolero / Tempo Traveler (Depending on the number of travelers).

Meals: All vegetarian meals from day 1st Dinner to day 6th Breakfast.

Snacks: Morning / Evening Tea / Coffee with light snacks and soup while on the trek.

Camping logistics: Tent, Sleeping bags, Mattresses, Dining tent. 

Trek Leader: Qualified and Experienced Trek leader and support staff.

Permits: All necessary fees and permits.

Trekking Equipment: Gaiters, Micro Spikes, and Rope if required.

Safety Equipment: Basic First Aid kit with Oximeter and Oxygen Cylinder.

Guide ratio: 1:10

Unscheduled delay due to landslide.

Note: You can apply for travel insurance before the trek.

 

For a Himalayan trek, consider packing the following essentials:

Warm clothing (thermal layers, fleece, down jacket) waterproof and windproof outer layers (jacket and pants) sturdy hiking boots with good ankle support Backpack with a rain cover
sleeping bag suitable for cold temperatures Sleeping pad/mattress for insulation Hat, gloves, and scarf sunglasses and sunscreen for high-altitude protection
water bottles and water purification method (filters or tablets) high-energy snacks and food for the trek first aid kit with essential medications and blister care items
trekking poles for better stability and support Headlamp or flashlight with extra batteries personal toiletries and wet wipes Multi-tool or pocket knife
camera and spare memory cards for capturing memories personal identification and necessary permits for the trek
remember to travel light but adequately prepared for the challenging conditions of a himalayan trek. Always check the specific requirements for the trek you are planning to undertake

Our Cancellation Policy-

Cancelling  prior 21 days from trek start date – 10% deduction charges, 90% is refunded.

Cancelling prior 15-20 days from trek start date – 30% deduction towards GST, Transaction, accommodation at Base, ration, etc.  70% is refunded.

Cancelling prior 7-14 days from trek dates – 50% deduction towards GST, Transaction, accommodation at Base, ration, Trekleaders, permits, equipment etc. 50% is refunded.

Cancelling prior 1-6 days from trek dates – 100% deduction As all arrangements are made by transhimalaya and we are set to take you on a trek.

Trek Voucher terms and Condition –

– The Voucher will be valid for 6 Months from date of issuance 

– The Voucher can be used in any trek with Trans Himalaya.
