Pandavas wanted to seek the forgiveness from lord Shiva for the sin of Killing their Guru and Cousins Kauravas in the battle of Mahabharata. But lord Shiva was not willing to accept their desire and eluded them by taking refuse at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. When Pandavas recognised him he submerged in to ground at Kedarnath, leaving behind his hump. Shiva was impressed with determination of Pandavas and appeared to worship the hump.
