1 You Can Make Friends Anywhere

I think the item that scares a lot of colonize about travelling solo is that they’ll have no to fall back on if they get into trouble. I flew Kathmandu with a grand total of one person who I knew at the trip, and yet one month later, I had an entire company of new from across the globe.

In the weeks leading up to my departure, I had countless colonize tell me I would make it to Base Camp – and in retrospect, I can’t them enough. Every time I felt close to up on the trek, I would think of who was me back home, and I’d advance on just ten minutes, one hour, one day more!

For the initially two days of the trek, I pushed myself to the limit to keep up and about with the three people in my group. By day three, I accepted the that I would not be it to Base Camp if I kept up this way. From on, I traditional my own pace and even I would cylinder on into village an hour later than the others, I didn’t mind one bit.

Spontaneous travel are all correctly and good it’s a week before you’re unpaid to leave and you realise instead of the 20ºC temperatures you’ve prepared for, it will be closer to -20ºC. Cue the panicked, last-minute thermal underwear shopping!

It’s not easy to get proper ‘down-time’ nowadays with our phones keeping us connected 24/7, it’s healthy to ‘unplug’ for a while. Snowed a little Nepalese teahouse in the middle of the Himalayas, with but a pack of cards, a much-needed fire, endless cups of tea and amazing company, the lack of phone reception was the last item on my mind.

Yes, it’s a cliché, it’s also a solid truth. You never appreciate the little home comforts like hot showers and clean clothes until you’ve trekked for 15 days pure with no gain access to to showers laundries.

Shortcuts don’t often pan on view the way you hope. After Base Camp roundabouts midday, my company decided to strive and summit nearby mountain sooner than taking a route through the avalanche site of the old Base Camp. However, the shortcut turned on view to be a small amount more than unstable boulders and 70 crevice drops, disguised by the crisp snowfall. The company didn’t manage to reach the summit of Mt Kala Patthar, but were grateful to make it back to our rest house alive.

Think it, it, do it! We were the most of a wedding delivery free bar my cousin to me we give Everest Base Camp a crack, and what else was there to do but lock it in right and there!

I admit, I was a little when I woke up to the travel confirmation emails the next morning, but now I have that of impulsiveness (and a few overly many glasses of wine) to for one helluva story to alert and life to boot.
